The Role

As the Sr. Consultant, LifeInforce Management, you will serve as a technical resource to develop complex spreadsheet models and rate files for insurance products. You will provide subject matter expertise and train end-users on use of models. You will also lead complex issue resolution and advise IT to ensure calculations in administrative systems appropriately align to insurance products.

Responsibilities

  • Leads initiatives to update or build new complex calculations in Excel and develop user-friendly models/spreadsheets which explain and illustrate policy performance of insurance products
  • Rigorously tests and protects models for accuracy and reliability
  • Provides subject matter expertise to internal teams; trains end-users on use of models and develops step-by-step instructions
  • Serves as a technical resource to review and resolve complex issues; revises calculations/models as needed
  • Leads projects related to productadministration for applicable administrative systems and illistration systems
  • Quality checks policy information and calculations in these same administrative systems
  • Advises IT on proposed updates/changes to administrative systems to ensure systems accurately reflect calculations and how product performs per policy specifications
  • Reviews IRS code calculations prepared by internal and external stakeholders and codes calculations into Excel spreadsheets
  • Recommends and implements improvements in processes and procedures within the department and other business areas
  • Provides support on ad hoc reports and assignments as needed

Education

  • 4 Year Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of equivalent work experience. Bachelor's in business, accounting, or mathematics preferred

Experience

  • 5 7+ years of experience in the Life Insurance industry building complex calculations and/or building complex spreadsheet models and rate files
  • Expert in coding of complex calculations in Excel and/or other programming language
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze complex information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and recommend processes improvements
  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
