The Role

As the Accounts Payable Sr. Service Processor, you will review, research and process medical bill invoices & reimbursement payment requests submitted by third party vendors for Lincolns Individual Life Insurance Finance Department - independently in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. You will prepare, record, verify, analyze and report on increasingly complex account transactions for Lincolns Individual Life Insurance Business. In addition, you will share general accounts receivable knowledge with your team to build technical capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and processes routine and progressively more non-routine and increasingly complex invoices for payment on a timely basis according to corporate and departmental policies and procedures
  • Make standard calculations to accurately compile and report requested account statistics and trends
  • Provides responses and a diverse range of accounts information to team members less routine questions without supervision
  • Communicates to management on recognized trends, issues and concerns
  • Resolves increasingly complex discrepancies by investigating documentation and determining applicable adjustments
  • Validates account statuses by reconciling increasingly complex statements, accounts and transactions
  • Identifies and researches increasingly complex discrepancies or out of balance situations amongst assigned accounts.
  • Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying, posting and correcting assigned account transactions
  • Reviews, researches and resolves escalated account issues.
  • Escalates account issues to appropriate management
  • Reviews information for completeness and gathers pertinent information from others as needed
  • Tracks and coordinates the preparation of account documents
  • May prepare and deliver customer billing and respond to resulting queries
  • Works overtime as needed

Education

  • High School diploma required or Associate degree in lieu of required experience

Experience

  • 3 - 5+ Years Accounts Payable and/or general accounting experience Life Underwriting & New Business experience preferred
  • Experience in Lincolns systems: LifeWriter, AWD, and Crystal Reporting preferred
  • Ability to learn and utilize billing system capabilities
  • Proficient in data entry and data management
  • written and verbal communication
  • Ability to read and interpret documents from our vendors and field partners
  • Works with mathematical concepts such as algebra, percentages, ratios, averages
  • Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Willing and able to learn how to create and review reports
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with collaborative style
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
