The Role
As the Associate Actuary of Life Valuation Products, you will consult and deliver on complex projects/initiatives for the life valuation team. You will be responsible for calculating, reporting and analyzing reserves and other actuarial financial statement items for Variable Universal Life and Employer Benefits (COLI / BOLI) products.

Responsibilities

Valuation and Financial Reporting

  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual valuation production duties for GAAP, Stat and Tax
  • Analyze and explain model results and deviations from expectations
  • Respond to internal and external auditor request, as well as ad-hoc reporting requests

Modeling

  • Consults and assists in the development of the valuation/projection models for VUL and EB products.
  • Work with other team members on developing and enhancing model validation tools
  • Consults and assists in the research and documentation and can explain model assumptions and test impact of proposed assumption changes in the models.
  • Consults and assists the development of additional controls needed for model development and implementation
  • Create and maintain the model documentation, including actions taken upon uncovering model defects.
  • Assists in the Implementation of industry best practices and development of coding and control standards for testing tools developed in Excel or other programming platform.

Project Management

  • Consults and assists projects or programs with moderate resource requirements, risk and/or complexity.
  • Ensure group's processes and procedures are compliant.
  • Communication
  • Communicate with product teams and others on issues and corporate standards

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Provides direction on complex assignments, projects, and/or initiatives to build and enhance the capability of his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Requirements

Education

  • Undergraduate Degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience; educational concentration in Applied Science or Mathematics is preferred.
  • 3-6 SOA Exams passed.

Experience

  • 3-5 + years of experience in Actuarial positions that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities of the position.
  • Educational experience and/or proficiency in valuation of Life insurance products.
  • Computer skills: MR-Triton, MG-ALFA, or similar actuarial projection software systems.
  • General knowledge of statutory valuation and GAAP accounting for interest sensitive life products
  • A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations.
  • Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions.
  • Drives performance targets to completion.

The Actuarial Development Program (ADP) at Lincoln Financial Group is an industry-leading program that demonstrates Lincoln Financial s commitment to creating highly qualified business leaders. As an ADP participant, youll be able to explore your unique interests while developing the essential actuarial, technical, management, communication, and leadership skills you need to succeed.
Program participants receive up to 175 hours of company time to study per exam sitting. Lincoln Financial Group purchases required exam materials and pays exam fees in advance for each program participant.
