The Role

This position will consult/analyze and deliver on more complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of database administration responsibility. S/he will perform more complex activities related to the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of databases.

Responsibilities

  • Architects, designs, and coordinates installation and configuration of real-time and warehouse databases in a high volume multi-terabyte redundant environment.
  • Consults on Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML) design and development opportunities.
  • Contributes to the overall construction of logical, functional, and physical database and application designs and features, and ensures adherence to project deadlines, specifications, and budget.
  • Designs and administers performance tuning enhancements for the databases, and assists on database environment upgrades and support.
  • Ensures databases are maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines including but not limited to SarbanesOxley (SOX).
  • Participates in or leads the planning, design, installation, configuration and implementation of database replication software.
  • Performs backup and recovery on Database Management Systems. Scales and clusters data for high availability.
  • Performs database architecture design reviews to identify enhancements to current database structures and processes.
  • Performs more complex SQL tuning including programming and ways to optimize SQL code.

Education

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)

Experience

  • 3 - 5+ Years of experience in Database Administration that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.(Required)
  • 3 - 5+ Years of DBA or Database Development experience with Microsoft Sql Server, versions 2008, 2012 or 2016
  • Proficiency with the Windows operating system and Powershell scripting
  • 1 year of DBA or Database Development experience with Oracle, versions 11g or 12c
  • A broad understanding of relational database security and audit compliance standards
  • Solid understanding of LINUX operating system and related scripting tools
  • Experience with designing, planning or supporting databases on a cloud platform (Azure/AWS/Oracle)
  • Working knowledge of modern platforms Hadoop, NoSQL
  • Must be able to participatein a rotating on-call schedule
