The Role

 

The Senior Business Innovation Strategist provides leadership and analysis to explore, evaluate and test new innovations that can drive significant and positive change for the organization.  As part of the New Frontier team, s/he will accelerate innovation at Lincoln by researching and exploring adjacent and transformational ideas, partnering with business leaders to assess opportunities, and providing the thought leadership to fuel discussions about emerging trends and implications. S/he will research new markets and competitor strategies, conduct opportunity assessments, develop business plans, and collaborate with business partners to launch new pilots. Finally, s/he will serve as a key source of innovative thought for the enterprise to ensure innovation is embedded in the core business.

 

Responsibilities

  • Directs the New Frontier innovation process by creating actionable plans that reflect and are derived from the most significant opportunities for business growth.
  • Identify and assess innovative ideas for new products and/or new markets.
  • Actively manages progress of assigned projects to ensure execution of expected results and recommends corrective actions, where necessary.
  • Leads cross-functional teams to build and execute business plans, developing relationships that bridge organizational boundaries and include individuals at multiple levels.
  • Plans and manages pilot process to bring new solutions to market, build prototypes, test concepts, measure results, gather feedback, and adjust course as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of current and emerging trends, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate these insights into current and future solutions.
  • Provide thought leadership that stimulates strategic and innovative thinking throughout the organization.
  • Identifies and communicates relevant consumer insights, competitive intelligence, and analytical findings to key business stakeholders in a manner which influences them to adopt ideas and strategies. This is the second of 2 new openings being filled. 

 

Requirements

Education

  • Undergraduate Degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience. MBA preferred.

 Experience

  • 5-7+ years of management consulting, corporate strategy, innovation and/or analysis experience.
  • Experience within the financial services and/or insurance industry preferred.
  • Experience creating a compelling business case that outlines strategic opportunity and convinces management to pursue a new idea.
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Ability to work across all levels in the organization and get things done with areas and through people where no direct management relationship exists.
  • Ability to shift between projects nimbly as priorities and deadlines change.
  • Strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines. #LI-AY1
