The Role

This position will provide subject matter expertise and direction on complex projects/initiatives for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility to ensure Scrum theory, practices, and rules are understood and enacted. The Scrum Master will support two or more scrum teams within a fast-paced application development environment while adhering to Scrum principles. S/he will lead complex large scale and/or enterprise-wide Agile programs and coordinate with various program support teams.

Responsibilities

Delivery Leadership

  • Mobilize, lead, and empower team; relationship build with project leadership and build trust; establish communications; establish tracking vehicles (backlog, visual board, project plan, etc.); setup management systems (JIRA/Version One, PlanView, MSP, etc.); lead/facilitate execution; monitor progress, analyze results and understand variances, course correct where needed, and report on status/progress; conduct retrospectives and role model continuous improvement; deliver results.
  • Coaches his/her scrum teams and other scrum teams to support Agile adoption and application of principles.
  • Leads two or more Scrum teams facilitating progress toward delivery goals using Agile practices and coordinates with other non-scrum teams involved in the effort.

  • Understand current environment; identify areas of improvement; assess priority/quantify opportunity; influence and negotiate for approval; define approach to achieve improvement; lead and empower a workgroup to achieve benefits.
  • Facilitates collaborative sessions with internal clients and/or external vendors on complex/large-scale projects to formulate creative and practical solutions to software challenges.
  • Facilitates core Agile ceremonies with two or more teams (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-up, Demo, Retrospective and Backlog refinement).
  • Facilitates discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Fosters assigned scrum teams to self-organization; ensures and supports empowerment of the team.
  • Identifies and recommends process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies dependencies and removes impediments to scrum teams progress.
  • Keeps the teams focused on the Sprint and achieving Sprint goals.
  • Manages budget and schedules for assigned programs/projects.
  • Manages internal and external communication, improves transparency, and communicates information throughout the organization.
  • Reports on Agile metrics such as velocity and cycle time.

Education

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)in IT or related business field (Minimum Required)

Experience

  • 5 7+ Years of experience as a Scrum Master or Project Manager leading multiple software development project teams to deliver high-quality software solutions using Agile techniques or other delivery methodologies (waterfall, iterative, incremental, etc.) (Required)
