Job Description

Build databases that help us deliver analytics and advice about everything that matters.

As a database developer in our Omaha office, you will help expand Gallup's reach of providing incredible data across the world. Using your deep expertise in databases and application development, you will work with the team to develop and maintain Gallup's data platform. You will help develop, enhance and maintain applications using AWS cloud technologies, along with using relational, NoSQL and other specialized databases.You will help write data services in Java 8 and demonstrate concurrent programming skills as needed. We will depend on your futuristic thinking to mitigate issues before they occur and will look to you to test, debug and troubleshoot challenges and to document resolution steps when necessary.

What you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS or a related field or the equivalent in education and experience is required
  • Experience in data modeling, along with 5 years of programming experience writing performant stored procedures/functions/SQL statements is required
  • Experience in either Oracle or MySQL is required
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in core java is required. Preferably with Java 8
  • Familiarity with Git; Maven or Gradle is a plus
  • Understanding of how HTTP works as it applies to RESTful architectures required
  • Data warehousing experience is preferred
  • Unit testing experience (preferably with JUnit) required
