It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role will work remotely for three (3) or more days a week and will share a hoteling workspace when working onsite. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.

Summary of the Job:


The IT Engineer & Administrator of our cloud-based systems is responsible for Third-party vendor onboarding, administration and support for Bend integrated systems, cloud platforms, applications, and tools. This role is also responsible for scheduling work with Logical Access (Information Security) to execute access controls so that Bend employees and contractors can obtain the approved access to third-party systems to administer and operate with our technology partner solutions. This role will consult regularly with Bend Business Operations, Marketing and Sales, Architects and Platform Engineering to ensure we are following our best practices, policies, and standards for managing our third-party relations, integrations, and operations. They will also be a central point of control for any production support communications with vendors when or if production issues arise that impact our Bend platform.

Our Credit Card-as-a-Service ("CaaS") platform is a collection of cloud native API products and services that are led by technology and being built with a product mindset; shifting away from how legacy card issuers work today.  We are building our platform offering to attract digitally native brand partners who seek best in class API Card Products that can be seamlessly embedded into their digital brand customer experience.  The CaaS team operates from a Product-led API first approach working "outside-in" to ensure we are focused on meeting the customers' needs up front.  This means, we obsess over delivering high value experiences for customers and users at each step.

Role Objectives:

Role Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining Systems (Cloud Platforms, Applications, Tools in the SaaS Space) and keeping systems operational

  • Collaborating with Third-party Technology partners (vendors) that our product platform integrates with and providing necessary cloud-based network integrations, Security settings and access controls for onboarding other Bend by FNBO employees and contractors

  • Managing/Overseeing cloud-based Platform/Network Security working with various teams - Manage updates or changes, accordingly, manage Passwords (create, reset, virus and spyware checks, etc....)

  • Manage Onboarding of access to new users on a third-party platform or tool as well as managing or overseeing permission updates to an existing role working with information security

  • Oversee Data Storage and Retrieval Systems - Managing backups of systems data when needed as well as retrieval of data.

  • Manage and oversee System upgrades and third-party platform upgrades to SaaS platforms we integrate with overseeing our integrations to make sure third-party partner platform upgrades don't impact our cloud platform

  • Contribute to product team development efforts towards successful product delivery

  • Embrace and execute CI/CD automation of testing and deployments for both non-prod and production cloud native run-time environments supporting SDLC process

  • Contribute to the bendbyfnbo release strategy and support deployment of releases

  • Monitor, promote and propose emerging technologies for adoption that can help facilitate better efficiencies, increased agility and performance, reduced complexities, and improved automation

  • Adhere to engineering principles while delivering solutions that solve real custom problems

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:


  • BA in computer science or other degree related to Cloud, IT, Cloud Networking, Software, Security or Data related engineering fields
  • 3+ years of experience working in a variety of cloud-based engineering fields
  • Experience with the following architecture techniques: Request/Response, Event-Driven/Streaming and Batch/ETL architectures
  • Exposure to platform environments and business functions related to Credit Card - Issuing, Processing, Fraud, Risk

  • Soft Skills:
    • Organizational - Ability to organize documentation and procedures for our integrations of third-party systems (cloud platforms, Applications, and Tools - SaaS)) as well as our Cloud based platform.  Also maintaining process and procedures documentation for the teams and for audit purposes.
    • Problem Solving - Ability to dive into problems and do research and identify possible solutions.  Also provide Remedy, Cause and Affect (RCA) documentation for communicating issues and resolutions to our team and third-party providers and partners.
    • Communicator - Effective listener that seeks to understand other perspectives and can articulate varying points of views clearly, is understood as well as inquisitive and can illustrate closure
    • Time Management - Ability to manage workload in a timely manner and deliver on commitments to the team as planned.  Also, ability to properly utilize time to collaborate and understand problems as well as planning backlog by working with our scrum managers and product teams.
    • Analytical - Illustrate an ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve, and make decisions. It is essential that this role possess the ability to help solve an organization's problems and improve its overall productivity and success by working cohesively across the Bend by FNBO product teams
    • Technologist - Understands digitally driven technology outcomes and how engineering achieves those outcomes relating to Software, Data, Cloud Native Solutions, Architecture, Networking and integrations with third-party SaaS providers and systems, etc.
    • Administrative - Ability to interoperate with third-party platforms, systems, applications, and tools in the cloud and administer access controls, configuration settings and troubleshooting by working with vendors and external technical staff to help resolve problems

  • Hard Skills - bias to AWS Cloud Platform and Cloud-Based systems:
    • Cloud Networking - public / hybrid ecosystems
    • Cloud Integrations - Bend by FNBO Cloud Platform with third-party SaaS provider and technology partners
