The Senior Associate, Compliance Risk Assessment is responsible for leading, developing and performing compliance, fair lending and UDAAP risk assessment (collectively risk assessment) functions. This role develops and maintains standards, establishes the scope, inclusion and mapping of regulations and risks to business lines, ensures appropriate escalation of control gaps for timely resolutions and prepares management-level reporting. Additionally, this role performs risk assessment governance and oversight functions and works proactively with business units to identify and escalate compliance risk.



This position helps measure and mitigate regulatory risk by working with business lines and compliance partners to ensure adequate controls are in place to address existing and emerging regulatory risks in relation to regulations, products or business processes. In addition, this position provides guidance and advice to the lines of business on compliance-related matters to facilitate implementation of effective, efficient and sustainable controls.

Key Accountabilities:

Risk Assessment Program Development and Oversight; Implement and Maintain the Risk Assessment Governance Framework.

  • Creation and maintenance of risk assessment methodology, standards and procedures including periodic assessment for enhancements and improvements.
  • Contribute to the compliance program by providing input to management related to risk assessment areas of focus, known gaps and emerging areas of risk.
  • Incorporate feedback from, and provide input to, the compliance subject matter experts (SMES), compliance testing and audit teams, and business unit contacts.
  • Update program documents and facilitate distribution to key stakeholders.

Multi-Dimensional Database Enhancement:

  • Support a growing database through performance analysis and process improvements by recommending sound database schema design in collaboration with application administrators to ensure features and changes meet business requirements and fulfill First National's risk management strategy.
  • Evaluate database program workflows for process improvement opportunities.
  • Guide team on system architecture. Responsible for making design decisions that affect the GRC tools such as solutions, applications, questionnaires, and data feeds.
  • Work closely with technical teams and business partners to understand requirements, design, and build new solutions or enhance existing solutions, including integration of data from multiple sources.

Risk Assessment Management: Maintain an effective risk assessment program, scope updated regulations and business processes, and advise business lines on completion of controls and associated control effectiveness matters within their assigned area.

  • Assess the effectiveness of business line controls referenced in risk self-assessments.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of bank processes and functions.
  • Work with business lines and compliance partners to ensure clear understanding and alignment of efforts and accountabilities.
  • Facilitate compliance mapping of regulations, associated risks and business control processes and functions and develop resolution recommendations to identified issues.
  • Prepare risk assessment summary documentation for senior management and the board.
  • Complete special projects as required.

Consultation Analysis and Communication: Work collaboratively and lead interdepartmental representatives through risk assessment.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or at least 4 years' experience in compliance or operational risk management;
  • At least 2 years' experience in the following:
    • Project management best practices, including methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall), scope and resource management, and risk assessment;
    • Process improvement in medium to large technology or banking enterprise, with ability to demonstrate experience in developing practical solutions to abstract problems, building consensus, gaining buy-in and addressing complex issues within all levels and across an organization
    • Relational database management system(s) (RDBMS);
    • Retrieving data from multidimensional database (MDB) and developing safeguards to ensure data integrity;
    • Completing data analysis including developing complex interactive and dynamic data visualization dashboards leveraging analytical tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI) to transform data into actionable business insights

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Project Management experience, including Agile SCRUM and SDLC process
  • Experience with leveraging GRC Platform such as Archer
  • Knowledge of Federal Regulations and associated terminology and methodologies; and
  • Working Knowledge of FNBO Business organization, processes and terminology.

Compensation:

Compensation range (base pay): $68,471.00-$109,767.00

IMPORTANT - This range is for the primary posting location of: Work at Home - Nebraska

Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
