Overview:

The DevOps/Automation Engineer is responsible for a variety of task with a core focus on the design and implementation of System Automation, Self Service Customer Solutions and System Monitoring. In addition, DevOps/Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and deploying new monitoring solutions to allow for real time identification of issues, capacity planning and accelerated issue resolution through the applied use of automation to resolve issues.
The DevOps/Automation team is an innovative group of team members devoted to providing automated solutions and services for FNTS to measure, evaluate and plan for visible, reliable virtual infrastructure and application delivery. As a member of the DevOps/Automation team, you will engage with teams from the internal support functions and external customer teams to help create automated pipelines and solutions required for continuous delivery utilizing agile methodologies. The tools and use-cases are diverse, and our challenge is to increase the velocity of system deployment by optimizing various parts of the pipeline. We are looking for engineers who are passionate about test and performance automation, infrastructure as code and automation of virtual infrastructure, and continuous deployment.
Key Responsibilities:

Continual improvement of the capability and accuracy of individual / stack monitors
Implementation of infrastructure monitoring and management tools
Creation of management-information / reporting / dashboards
Work with platform architects on software and system optimizations, helping to identify and remove potential performance bottlenecks
Assisting in the evaluation and selection for the monitoring and management platform, tools and services
Share and develop subject-matter-expert understanding in a specific area of the systems. Identify options and methods to improve the value of the tools for that area across the organization
Stay up-to-date on relevant technologies, plug into user groups, understand trends and opportunities to ensure we are using the best possible techniques and tools
Understand, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation
Design, manage, and maintain tools to automate operational processes
Work with the systems users to collect and identify the performance requirements, analyze the technical feasibility and recommend the appropriate performance standards in the form of performance test requirement
Drive the effort to complete performance requirement specifications including production usage statistics, usage profiles, and transaction matrices
Develop and support Chef Cookbooks for software and OS configuration
Assist with supporting Git/VSTS workflows
Automation of IT processes such as:
Infrastructure provisioning and management
Application lifecycle packaging and deployment
Cloud tenant management
Capacity automation/rebalancing
Container orchestration such as Docker and Pivotal Cloud Foundry
Monitoring and alerting


Job Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

Must be able to work in a collaborative environment
Have experience implementing and maintaining Salt, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet in production environments (Chef preferred) and be comfortable in an everything-as-code workplace.
Logging experience - (Elasticsearch Logstash Kibana) ELK Stack
Metric tools such as InfluxDB, Grafana, Prometheus, and Nagios.
Strong understanding of at least one core infra technologies, e.g. Virtualization, Storage, Networking, or Security
Experience with or the ability to learn at an accelerated rate all of the following scripting languages: VBS, PowerShell, Perl, Python, Ruby
Experience with or the ability to learn at an accelerated rate the use of automation tools and scripting languages
Experience with IT Infrastructure concepts and administration
Experience with Agile Development Life Cycle
Understanding of cloud/Rest APIs
Working Cloud knowledge on any of the following cloud platforms - AWS, Azure, and OpenStack a plus
Working knowledge with any popular shell (Bash, ksh, etc)
Working knowledge of Cassandra
