Desktop Support Engineer

Job Description

The Desktop Support Engineer will support the IT department by assisting internal employees with their IT needs. This will include but is not limited to, setting up, configuring and maintaining desktop/laptop computers, software and other devices. Day to day activities include responding to IT tickets, supporting end users with any problems they encounter (software errors, malware issues, hardware issues, etc.) and providing training for any new IT related products or services introduced by the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Support internal employees in a ‘help desk’ environment through incoming calls, emails and help desk tickets.
  2. Manage and maintain Office365 Hosted Exchange and Office Application stack.
  3. Upgrade, troubleshooting, and repair of desktops, laptops, printers and other devices.
  4. Develop and maintain desktop, laptop and printer configuration documentation.
  5. Manage and Maintain Mitel/ShoreTel IP Phone system.
  6. Manage and Maintain Conferencing/Collaboration Solution(s) and Conference Room equipment.
  7. Place hardware and software orders requested by IT management
  8. Assist with the management and maintenance of the corporate Active Directory
  9. Assist with the management and maintenance of back office network infrastructure, DHCP, DNS, VPN
  10. User onboarding and off-boarding in Active Directory and other systems

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Windows and macOS Operating system installation and configuration
  2. Desktop/Laptop configuration and troubleshooting
  3. Windows Server administration (Active Directory)
  4. Microsoft Office 365 Administration
  5. TCP/IP Network Administration and Troubleshooting
  6. SIP Telephony systems administration (Mitel preferred)
  7. Patching and Anti-Virus Administration (ESET for AV is preferred)
  8. Windows PowerShell Scripting
  9. ITIL Best Practices

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal office environment with the use of computers and telephone systems; no unusual physical demands.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

2+ years of system administration, network design, and VMware experience

Excellent time management, organization and documentation skills

Able to provide on-call system support, including nights and weekends
