The IT Solutions Architect - Cloud Engineer works collaboratively to define and maintain the University’s Cloud Roadmap and Architecture. As a senior technical advisor and engineer, the IT Solutions Architect - Cloud Engineer designs and implements cloud architecture solutions to meet the university's current and future needs, focusing on scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness. Performs the necessary leadership, coaching and mentoring of Technical Leads, and facilitates research and analysis to select products and services that align with the architectural strategy.
This is an onsite role based in Omaha, Nebraska, with a Monday through Friday schedule. The position also requires flexibility for after-hours projects and changes, ensuring that critical tasks and adjustments can be made outside of standard business hours as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or in a related area and/or equivalent experience. Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture and engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Experience with cloud migration projects, including hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and services.
• Strong understanding of networking, security, and identity management in a cloud environment.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and integrating on-premises systems with cloud platforms.
• Experience with Platofrm as a Service
• Experience with Serverless computing such as AWS Lambda and Microsoft Azure Functions.
• Proficiency in writing Python scripts to automate cloud integrations and operational tasks.
• Understanding of cloud resource tagging, monitoring, and optimization through automation.
• Ability to work with JSON, YAML, and other data formats commonly used in cloud configurations.
• Familiarity with tools like Github, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps for continuous integration and deployment.
• Experience with Azure API Management for designing, deploying, and managing APIs in Azure.
• Knowledge of virtual networks (VNets), subnets, and network security groups (NSGs).
