The Associate Director of Advancement Events is responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and executing events that engage alumni audiences, steward major donors, promote fundraising campaign initiatives, and inspire giving to Creighton University. The Associate Director is the strategy and event planning lead for donor relations and stewardship events, including but not limited to the annual scholarship luncheon, endowed chair installations, athletic stewardship events, Presidentials, building ground-breakings, ribbon cuttings and grand openings.

 

This position maintains productive working relationships with campus partners and alumni nationwide to enhance and expand the reach of University Relations. The associate director partners with the Advancement Events, Principal Gifts and UR leadership teams to build a calendar of events that aligns with University priorities and initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and create high-visibility special events of various sizes that cultivate and inspire giving,  recognize and steward principal donors, major donors, and campaign prospects. When necessary, travel may be required for campaign and donor events.
  • Manage the budget for select campaign and advancement events. Summarize   outcomes and expenses. Evaluate and refine activities.
  • Manage the invitation process: define strategy for guest lists, collaborate with University Communications on invitation creation, oversee printing, mailing, and RSVP process.
  • Work with campus stakeholders in Omaha and Phoenix to communicate event and programming vision and strategy. Build consensus and engage stakeholders, when necessary, in planning and organizing events.
  • Provide event consultation to UR partners.
  • Student supervisor for event support
  • Collaborate and build relationships with campus partners in Omaha and Phoenix.
  • Generate leads for gift officers in the division and campus partners through event interactions.
  • Partner with Advancement Communications to identify, craft and refine event communications  and messaging that reinforces the desired goals and outcomes of the event.
  • Assist Director with Board of Trustee donor and stewardship events.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Five to seven years of demonstrated experience in donor relations or advancement event planning and management, preferably in higher education.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task when executing on-going, concurrent events of high caliber and quality.
  • Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills. High emotional intelligence and social skills in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Excellent customer service skills. Demonstrated tact, professionalism, creativity and positive attitude.
  • High level of discretion and sensitivity when handling confidential information.
  • Thrives working independently and as a member of a team, where information and ideas are shared.
  • Experience with relational database, Advance Web preferred.
  • Proficient software skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Sharepoint, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.); Office 365, Social Tables software experience preferred.
