Responsibilities

 

  • Provides exemplary client service to Researchers/Registrants (faculty, staff, and students), CU Learners, and Clinical Research Office.
  • With support from senior IRB analysts and/or IRB Director, meet with investigators and research staff to facilitate research and discuss individual research projects.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of applicable federal regulations and guidance, HRPP policies, and ethical principles underlying human subject research.
  • Participate in on-line training, webinars, and in-person education to achieve and maintain competence as above.
  • This position supports the administration of the daily and long-term operations associated with both the Institutional Review Boards (IRB-01, IRB-02) and IRB Office in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, in-pair with Creighton University policies and procedures governing the protection of human subjects in research.
  • Provide support to the CU IRB (IRB-01, IRB-02, and IRB Office) review processes:
    • Aid IRB Reviewers in determining priority of incoming work assignments
    • Perform technical review/assessment of all incoming submissions for completeness.
    • Route incoming items for review according to IRB Office priorities
    • Assist IRB Reviewers with technical, administrative reviews (including administrative closure of exempt and QI submissions)
    • With input from the IRB Director and reviewers, draft correspondence to investigators regarding Board determinations and requirements.
  • Support all aspects of IRB (IRB-01 and IRB-02) Boards:
    • Ensure IRB member compliance with IRB member training, documentation, and financial conflict of interest disclosures,
    • Attend Board meetings and participate in discussion as necessary.
    • Prepare IRB meeting agendas, invitations, and meeting minutes
    • Track IRB member attendance to ensure that quorum is maintained and for purposes of billing (payments to community members)
  • Work with the Research Compliance Program Manager in appropriate billing of IRB submissions based on IRB Fee Schedules.
  • Work with the Conflict of Interest in Research Committee [CIRC] to provide the [IRB] Board Members with any conflict-of-interest management plans to be reviewed at full Board.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for the Application Administrator, CU Researchers/Registrants, and CU Learners as it pertains to InfoEd Global Online IRB and IBC Management System
  • Collaborate with Application Administrator to handle various aspects of the IRB and IBC InfoEd Global System workflows
  • Perform basic project management (with assistance from the IRB Director) for IRB Office projects including policy change initiatives, IRB social media, etc.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Healthcare, Philosophy/Ethics, Psychology, Public Health/Administration, Education, Law, Writing, or related field

Experience:  At least 1 year experience with the conduct of human subject research AND/OR at least 1 year experience in IRB Administration desired. 

Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities:  Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing; demonstrated ability to work as a team; demonstrated ability to multitask; facility with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs
