The Translational Hearing Center at the Creighton University School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.  

Applicants should not yet have received prior R01-level funding (>$215,000 per year as PI).  The Center is strengthening existing research programs by establishing additional avenues of translational auditory neuroscience (see existing faculty at https:medschool.creighton.edu/departments/biomedcal-sciences/faculty.  

Special consideration will be given to those utilizing various translational approaches to auditory diseases, including drug development, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics in the inner ear, genomic predisposition to sensory loss, animal models, as well as translational and clinical applications, including research audiology.  

Appointees will be expected to conduct a vigorous independent research program and participate in graduate and professional student teaching. Generous laboratory space with equipment, competitive start-up funding, and state-of-the art core facilities will be provided.  Applicants for junior positions should have a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree; postdoctoral training with significant research accomplishment; and scholarly promise.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree;
  • 2-4 years participating in graduate and professional student teaching;
  • Postdoctoral training with significant research accomplishment


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;

  • Ability to provide evidence of excellent university-level teaching and/or significant publications;
  • Ability to foster student and staff learning, development, and decision making in support of goals, success, wellness, and needs;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport quickly and effectively with a diversity of populations;
  • Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others;
  • Mission/Service and Results oriented;
  • Ability to work at times non-traditional business hours when needed (i.e. weekends, evening, and/or holiday)
