Research Laboratory Technician II

Position Summary

Creighton University invites application for a Research Laboratory Technician in the Physical Therapy Department, Rehab Science Research Lab. This position will focus on understanding and improving the preparation and performance of whole-body movements for individuals impacted by musculoskeletal injury or disease. To do this, the lab performs kinetic and kinematic measurements, postural control assessments, muscle physiology assessment and other such human movement assessments. The position is responsible for assisting in on-going projects in Dr. Jaffri`s lab and responsibilities include human movement assessments management of research projects, maintaining laboratory manuals and study records, recruiting participants, and collecting and analyzing data.

This position will work Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm, depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work.  This position is not a remote position and employee will need to be on campus.  The position is fully funded through 12/31/2023. Employment beyond this date is contingent on continued grant funding.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful, or anticipated, completion of a bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college in a major such as Health sciences, kinesiology, biomechanics, athletic training, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • 1-2 years research lab experience preferred. Individuals with no experience may also be considered with relevant background and enthusiasm to work in physical therapy research lab.
  • Analytical skills required, including experience of working with MS office. Knowledge of MATLAB, R, LabVIEW or other equivalent languages is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team and interact effectively in an interprofessional environment.
  • Organizational skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree or equivalent work experience in Exercise science, health sciences, kinesiology/biomechanics or other related fields.  Previous research experience is highly preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Understanding of research methods, laboratory techniques, and care of laboratory equipment;
  • Ability to interpret data, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Analytical skills;
  • Strong work ethic, excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently;
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs
