Enrollment Services Counselors (ESC) will field incoming requests via telephone, email, and walk-up to ensure courteous, timely, and effective resolution of end-user issues.  Typically these requests will be relative to student financial questions, including, but not limited to Federal Financial Aid, alternate funding, tuition, and fees.  They will receive, prioritize and document information while actively working with the end user. The Consultant will both resolve and escalate interactions when appropriate and necessary to meet SLA expectations. Interdepartmental collaboration is required to ensure a seamless end-user experience. All tasks are completed while placing a high value on customer service, timely resolution, and client satisfaction.

 

Education & Experience:
•    Some college, required
•    1-2 years’ experience in Financial Aid or Student Accounts, preferred 
•    2-3 years’ experience in Customer Service, preferred

•    A Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 
•    Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on rapport building, listening, and questioning skills.
•    Basic mathematical skills required to close and balance.
•    Excellent written and communication skills along with excellent documentation skills.
•    Ability to conduct research into a wide range of issues
•    Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.

•    Ability to problem solve and use analytical skills.
•    Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressured environment.

Essential Functions:
 

80%    

  • Receive resolve inbound interactions, as appropriate, answer and resolve inbound digital, in-person and phone communication primarily relating to identified Financial Aid and other student financial services”.
  • Communicates area relevant university polices, and procedures and other information to customers relative to financial aid eligibility, expected family contribution, cost of attendance figures, disbursements, account balances refund process, tuition and fee assessment etc.
  • Follows established documentation and escalation rules relative to assigned tasks while possessing the critical thinking necessary to piece together solutions using information from disparate systems 
  • Build rapport and elicit problem details from customers.  Receives, routes and or processes university forms submitted by students
