Performs duties to ensure the safety and security of University students, visitors, and employees. Applies crime risk and safety hazard prevention techniques, methods, practices, and enforces University rules and regulations. An Officer patrols campus at any time patrols campus by vehicle, foot, or bike.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and crawling all day. The employee must lift and move items up to 50 pounds at times with or without reasonable accommodation.
This position will work 3pm-11pm; scheduled days will rotate every three (3) months with other officers on shift.
Position will also receive shift differential of (10%).
Must be 21 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred.
1 to 2 years work related experience; OR, 1 to 2 years’ experience in a position requiring the use of interpersonal/human relations skills and high public interaction.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a City of Omaha weapons permit.
Must have a current valid drivers license AND a clean driving record for the last 5 years
Must be able to work any of the three officer shifts, or for a specific period of time to meet University/department needs.
Must be able to work under stressful situations
CPR and first-aid (training provided)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures preferred;
Ability to react calmly during emergency and/or stressful situations;
Skill in respectful, tactful, and sensitive interaction with individuals who are diverse in their cultures, language groups and abilities;
Strong customer service skills and communicate clearly and concisely, in English, (verbal/written);
Ability to work a monthly rotational schedule (i.e. January-M, Tu, W, Th, F; February-Tu, W, Th, F, Sa);
Ability to see details at close range;
Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects;
Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs;
Ability to work outside in various temperatures (summer/winter) for extended periods of time

Ability to obtain and maintain a City of Omaha weapons permit;
