If so, we are looking for an experienced, motivated, passionate Clinic Patient Financial Services Specialist.  
Creighton University, founded in 1878, is located in Omaha, Nebraska.   We are a comprehensive Jesuit University that educates over 8,000 students. Our nine (9) colleges and schools offer over 140 programs including arts and sciences, business administration, law, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, dentistry, and graduate studies. Creighton employs approximately 2000 people, making it one of the largest employers in the Omaha community.


Our Dental Clinic is located in our state-of-the-art School of Dentistry, which opened in 2018 on the Creighton Campus, in the heart of downtown Omaha. Our clinic services over 44,000 patient visits annually.  

Job Summary:   

Our Patient Financial Services Specialists ensure that there is an exceptional experience for the patients with prompt, accurate, and courteous payment service. This role will also facilitate the education of Dental Students about current health care reimbursement policies and are critical the Creighton Dental Clinic’s overall success. 

The cashiering and insurance area has eight well-trained team members who take care of patients’ financial needs. The team’s duties include loading insurance benefits, preauthorization for procedures, checking eligibility, working denials, submitting insurance claims, accepting payments, posting payments, sending patient statements, and answering phone calls from patients. Each team member plays an important role and is trained to assist each other and each patient with respect and dignity.  The Patient Services team process on average 200 – 300 patients per day and over $400,000 in payments monthly.  

The Patient Services Specialist will be part of a team responsible for providing services specifically related to patient registration and private-pay payment processing.  They will process patient registration, provide patients with payment options, process patient payments, conduct insurance verification, send patient statements, charge capture, ensure proper coding and will accurately enter receipts into automated system etc. 


 

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent
Dental experience, including knowledge of dental procedures and dental procedure codes, strongly desired
Minimum of 1-year consistent work experience preferably in a clinical setting 
Post-secondary education with classes in Business, Coding, and /or medical programs (Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, etc..)

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a dental clinic/office;

Experience with dental software and procedure codes;

Familiarity and understanding of HIPAA requirements

 

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures/processes;

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written);

Strong customer service skills including the ability to assess inquiries and provide appropriate information using judgment and available resources, and proven ability to maintain confidentiality;

Ability to coordinate and prioritize work with multiple and conflicting demands in a deadline-oriented environment;

Ability to be collaborative and work in a team environment;

Demonstrate Professionalism;

Must be dependable/accountable;

Demonstrate commitment to working with diverse populations
