Our Dental Clinic is located in our state-of-the-art School of Dentistry, which opened in 2018 on the Creighton Campus, in the heart of downtown Omaha. Our clinic services over 44,000 patient visits annually.

The Dental Clinic Finance Manager will be responsible for a staff of up to eight non-exempt personnel, including four Financial Services Specialists (Cashiers) and four Insurance Specialists who process on an average of over $400,000 in payments monthly. This role will also be integral in short and mid-term strategic planning, providing creative ideas and solutions for process and automation improvements and process simplifications.
While reporting up through the University Finance Department, this role will be responsible for supporting and partnering with the Dental Clinic operational leadership in managing the day-to-day financial operations of processing patient registration, insurance verification, charge capture, coding and data entry of receipts etc. It will ensure that there is an exceptional experience for the patients with prompt, accurate, and courteous service. This role will also facilitate the education of departmental personnel and students about current health care reimbursement policies.
Essential Job Functions:
Manage cashiering and insurance personnel in the Dental Clinic. Work to resolve issues that arise to ensure all cash/ACH payments and credit cards are posted in a timely manner.
Review Insurance and Patient Accounts Receivable regularly and resolve issues with patients and insurance companies to ensure timely payment and accurate accounts receivable.
Direct establishment and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls within the Dental Clinic.
Maintain Dashboards and metrics to ensure work is being completed timely.
Establish and maintain communication network/rapport among dentists, dental students, and clinic office staff. Communicate changes in departmental process and work with necessary personnel to make recommended changes in the billing systems to ensure accurate coding and billing output.
Lead process improvement initiatives within dental clinic, including but not limited to business process review, automation and system upgrades.
Partners with business management to maintain a thorough understanding of the key business drivers of the assigned area, specific business processes and priorities, and future strategic direction of the assigned area.
Closely manages team members including hiring, developing, motivating and instructing people as they work, and manages teams indirectly across client and operational organizations (including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other members of the team).
Participates in near- and medium-term strategic planning for the assigned business area.
Ability to work across levels, functions, and departments to support staff in obtaining needed information from internal and external customers.
