Job Description

A postdoctoral scholar "postdoc" is an individual holding a doctoral degree who is engaged in a temporary and defined period, typically less than 5 years, of mentored research and/or advanced scholarly training for the purpose of acquiring the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of his/her choosing. Performs research under the supervision and mentorship of a more senior researcher, often called the postdoctoral advisor.


Ideal candidate will apply scientific principles, education, training and experience to assist in ongoing research activities in a very active research laboratory setting. Will assist with laboratory experiments in accordance with prepared and approved protocols. Additional responsibilities will include conduct and design of experiments, collection and analysis of data, preparation of data for presentation, and preparation of research results for publication.

This position is 100% grant funded and will support the Department of Surgery, General Research. 

This position will work Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm; depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend and holiday work. 

Please note, this position potentially may also be working out of Bergan Mercy Hospital and final candidate would need to meet their compliance requirement for on-boarding.

Qualifications:
Doctorate Degree
1-3 years' experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong ability to interpret data and to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;
Strong work ethic, excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook;
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs
