***This is a Temporary, ongoing assignment consisting of 16 hours per week. Hours of the job will be 3pm-11pm, Saturday and Sunday.
Dispatches Public Safety Officers by working in partnership with the department shift, students, faculty, staff and visitors to assist in protecting people, securing property, solving problems, and enhancing communication.
Position will be responsible to receive calls for and dispatch security services, operate base radios, answer phones, monitor alarm systems and closed circuit television screens; and relay radio/telephone communications.Primary Duties:
- Monitors all fire/security alarms and all closed circuit television cameras. Maintains the record systems of the department. Maintains and issues equipment used by field personnel. Types, files input and retrieves data on computer. Aides and directs visitors to appropriate locations. Enters and edits parking citations/permits. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Answers, prioritizes, and handles all incoming calls professionally and courteously. Dispatches officers via radio to locations where needed.
Dispatcher receives requests for public safety assistance which may require police, fire, or medical assistance. Responsible for operating the base station radio and dispatch officers to areas of need; relay messages by radio or telephone to and from officers or other agencies outside the university. Responsible for preparing and maintaining the communication log which includes telephone service requests and other notifications for services; processes confidential materials/crime reports.
-High school diploma or equivalent (Associates Degree in security or criminal justice preferred).
