Creighton University, a fully accredited AAALAC research facility, in Omaha, Nebraska is advertising for an attending veterinarian. The ideal candidate must have a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with preference for an additional terminal degree. This position requires the individual to possess outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and administrative skills. The position will be 50% effort as the University Attending Veterinarian with the other 50% as a faculty appointment commensurate with research and teaching experience of the applicant. The chosen candidate will serve as the attending veterinarian for the animal facility by providing appropriate care for all research animals in preventive health, diagnostic and therapeutic medicine. This individual will provide professional animal welfare guidance to researchers, staff and administration. They will ensure that the animal research program complies with all regulations from USDA, PHS, AAALAC, and any other applicable agency; as well as serve on the IACUC to participate in review of all protocols involving animal research.

The faculty appointment will be tenure-track with departmental assignment dependent on the expertise of the candidate. The faculty responsibilities might include teaching undergraduate, graduate and/or professional students. If appropriate the successful candidate may establish a research program of their own interest. They will also have the opportunity to serve on University Committees and can choose to participate in other campus-related activities/groups. This joint position's salary will commensurate with the individual's credentials and experience.

Primary Duties:



Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
Active NE veterinary license or the capability of obtaining such
Board certification or board eligibility in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine
At least 2 years' experience in Laboratory Animal Medicine
Effective communication skills
Computer proficiency
Experience with a wide variety of laboratory animals
Knowledge of current USDA, PHS and AAALAC regulations
Experience with animal surgical suite management including USDA and non-regulated animals

Active NE veterinary license or the capability of obtaining such
Board certification or board eligibility in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine
