Job Summary: Assists management in the development, maintenance, and documentation of the information systems infrastructure for computer operations. Monitors systems resource usage and makes recommendations as needed to improve the availability, stability, efficiency and performance of the local area network and related equipment. Works closely with Network Administrator to provide secure and stable systems for all company applications and data storage.
Education: 4 Year Undergraduate Degree or equivalent knowledge in Management Information Systems or equivalent experience. Relevant certification(s) preferred. Security certifications preferred.
Work Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience as a Network Administrator or equivalent experience in a similar role. Advanced knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite, which includes: Three years’ experience with SMTP and administration of a corporate e-mail system (Office365 preferred). Solid knowledge of IP routing, switch configuration and subnetting. Three years’ experience with HTTP and the administration of public and private Web servers. Three years’ experience working with firewall administration. Basic knowledge of Unix / Linux operating systems.
Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of a number of integrated concepts / technologies within a specific professional area. Highly specialized in one area with a broad understanding and ability to apply expertise in multiple areas. Job is viewed to be a senior subject matter expert by company management and is sought after for knowledge resource. Evaluates and recommends alternate technical or professional solutions in order to reach business goals. Counsels, consults, mentors and transfers expertise to staff.
Communication: Must be able to communicate technical information effectively and professionally with all internal and external contacts in a format that is appropriate to the listener’s level of knowledge.
Characteristics Specified to Job: Attendance is required with a physical presence of the employee at the workplace during scheduled hours of work. Handling reasonably necessary stressors of the job and working reasonably well with others. Workplace Environment: Workflow and nature of essential job functions although somewhat standard, processing of work requires mental and visual focus. Business necessitated interruptions occur occasionally and restarting work processes requires the need to briefly review ending points and statuses.
Special Physical Requirements: The work performed is sedentary and the job allows employees to remain seated or to sit and stand intermittently to perform most duties. Less than 10% of the time will be spent performing physical activities and the job does not involve stooping, crawling or kneeling except in occasional situations. However, a negligible amount of lifting, pulling and pushing may be required to perform the work and some walking, standing, and manual dexterity may be required in routine activities such as carrying papers, opening file drawers, operating basic office equipment and driving a car.
