Childrens Hospital & Medical Center is seeking a Child Psychiatrist to expand a well-developed department of Behavioral Health.  Our team consists of 5 board certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, 4 APRNS, 15 Clinical Psychologists, a Neuropsychologist, 6 Licensed Mental Health Providers, and 4 Clinic RNs.   The Psychiatrist will deliver care through face to face and telehealth methods. We complete 2,500 patient visits per month across traditional outpatient clinics, which include multidisciplinary clinic teams, school-based services, integrated primary care, and medical hospital consultations. Fellowship training program affiliation has recently been initiated. We do not have any inpatient psychiatric beds.

Childrens Hospital & Medical Center is the only full-service, pediatric health care center in Nebraska, providing expertise in more than 50 pediatric specialty services to children across a five-state region and beyond. Childrens is home to Nebraskas only Level IV regional NICU and the states only Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.  Childrens is focused on extraordinary clinical care, education, basic science and translational research and advocacy and is embarking on transformational programmatic and physical growth.  Our Behavioral Health team members are involved in about a dozen multidisciplinary care clinics and provide medical home-centered care in 10 primary care pediatric offices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of psychiatric principles, child and adolescent development, inter-relational dynamics, individual and group behavior, and behavior modification techniques.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients and families, physicians, and other clinical professionals to gather and exchange patient information.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 90% of work time when providing therapy, observing patient response, and documenting patient progress.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in providing age-appropriate care to children, adolescents, adults and families.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Medical degree from an accredited college or university in Psychiatry is required. Completion of a residency/fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry is required
  • Employee will need to board eligible and achieved in adult psychiatry and Child and Adolescent psychiatry within 2 years of hire

 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Medical license in state of practice is required. If state of practice is not Nebraska, Medical license in the state of Nebraska is required within 6-months of hire.
  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association is required within 6 months of hire.
  • Current and valid Federal DEA license in the state of NE required. Must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
