Description

Monday through Friday- Days. We are looking for a Transplant Program Manager to be responsible for process for continuous regulatory and accreditation compliance, quality, and patient safety for the transplant program and associated clinical areas. Serves as the leader, advisor and subject matter expert with the Joint Commission, CMS, UNOS, and other regulator agency standards. Plans, administers, and implements processes to support ongoing compliance and survey readiness. Works collaboratively with Heart Center, Transplant, and Organizational leaders to meet regulatory and quality expectations.

Essential Functions

  • Monitors defined operational standards and ensure activities achieve optimum service delivery/systems/care/processes and established high performance objectives to meet regulatory requirements for the Transplant Program. Holds self and others accountable to meet stated objectives, outcomes, goals, and commitments, adhering to standards even in the face of unforeseen circumstances.

Quality

  • Collaborates with medical staff and operational leadership to facilitate evidence-based quality and patient safety initiatives; engages associates at all levels in continuous pursuit of improvement opportunities
  • Manages, coordinates, and providers oversight of key functions and processes for the systematic, coordinated, and continuous improvement of patient care delivery
  • Ensures quality and performance improvement initiatives align with regulatory standards and healthcare best practices.
  • Establishes and maintains efficient and reliable mechanisms for monitoring, analysis, and reporting of quality outcomes and performance improvement initiatives. Ensures the integration of aggregated data into performance improvement planning and problem resolution
  • Coordinates and facilitates the use of statistical process tools and process improvement methodologies for continuous improvement in patient care and outcomes
  • Evaluates the relationship of quality and performance improvement initiatives with patient outcomes to determine if desired results have been achieved or sustained. Compared performance data and outcomes with authoritative external sources and benchmarks
  • Facilitates a multidisciplinary QAPI transplant meeting ensuring regulatory compliance, collaborating with the transplant medical director for needed improvements.
  • Designs and implements program scorecard/dashboards for performance measurement and management.
  • Coordinates and oversees adverse event records, participates in root cause analysis, and follow up action plans. Communicates to transplant leadership team as issues arise and ensures resolution

Regulatory Readiness

  • Responsible for the coordination of accreditation and regulatory standards for the transplant program. Plans and implements programs to assess state of readiness for surveys, focusing on continual preparation.
  • Collaborates with organization quality department to coordinate survey activities/visits and post-survey follow-up activities.
  • Guides, coordinates, and updates policy and procedure review to meet regulatory guidelines
  • Measures and oversees internal compliance through data collection, tracking/trending. Analysis, and monitoring. Actively communicates and facilitates needed improvements with the transplant team.
  • Continuously reviews, monitors, and updates policies and procedures to meet CMS and UNOS regulation changes and updates
  • Serves as the subject matter expert and resource for transplant activities.
  • Develops, delivers, and coordinates training, education, and communications for team members to comply with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Updates hospital transplant manual as changes are completed.
  • Develops and implements orientation plans for new staff as needed

Administration/Management/ Financial

  • Serves as a liaison to administration and represents the children s transplant program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal care management.
  • Works in collaboration with the Heart Center Business Director to improve financial reimbursement and processes.
  • Analyzes processes and procedures and makes recommendations and/or decisions on guidelines for daily processes/activities within department t. May recommend policy changes related to the department. Implements new or revised policies, processes, and procedures within the work area.
  • Contributes in the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Ensures compliance with quality assurance, safety practices, policies, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with contracted services including OPOs and Donate Life, meeting regulatory compliance. Ensures contracts are updated regularly including negotiation of these contracts as needed.
  • Maintains oversight and involvement in database entry (TIEDI, SRTR, etc.)

Personnel Management

  • Selects/hires employees and trains and/or oversees the training on job related tasks.
  • Conducts employee performance management duties including completion and delivery of performance evaluations, setting goals, dissemination of information, coaching, addressing performance issues/routine correction actions, and recommending termination of employment.
  • Makes salary recommendations.
  • Submits notifications for personnel actions (e.g., status changes, terminations).
  • Makes recommendations for human resource needs.

Operational/Financial Management

  • Responsible for the implementation and execution of business plans or activities for the department. May assist in the development of business plans.
  • Makes decisions guided by the business plan and resource availability that impacts service levels and the team s ability to meet objectives.
  • Analyzes processes and procedures and makes recommendations and/or decisions on guidelines for daily processes/activities within department. May recommend policy changes related to the department. Implements new or revised policies, processes, and procedures within the work area.
  • Assists in the development of the annual budget, monitors budget variance reports for the department.
  • Applies business and management expertise to identify problems/opportunities, determine solutions, and measure results.
  • Ensures compliance with quality assurance, safety practices, policies, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Deals effectively with patient and family concerns, facilitating a multi-disciplinary team approach.
  • Shows evidence of meeting annual professional goals.
  • Carries out special projects as assigned.
  • Performs Coordinator role as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Must possess leadership skills including communication/organizational skills, time management, coping skills, motivation, problem-solving, autonomy and supporting the team.
  • Analytical skills to assemble evaluate and identify current and future trends.
  • Must be able to navigate through Microsoft Office Products in an effective manner.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills to effectively interact with medical staff, consultants, external professionals, administrators and employees at all levels.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university in nursing required.
  • Master s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing preferred
  • Minimum 5 years transplant program experience
  • Demonstration of progressive leadership experience
  • Performance Improvement experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
  • Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in state of NE/Compact state required
  • Certification within specialty area required; CCTN or CCTC Certification required within 1 year of hire
  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association is required.
