Children's is searching for a Sr. Network Telecommunications Engineer who is responsible for leading all phases of implementing complex enterprise voice and video solutions. Establish requirements, balancing capability with security. Perform tradeoff analyses between alternatives. Cognizant of best practices in routing and switching, unified communications, video, and information security. Plan upgrade and migration paths for existing voice and video solutions. Establish and enforce system policies, standards and procedures. Responsible for configuration, monitoring and continuous improvement of enterprise systems such as Cisco Call Manager, Unity Connection, Contact Center Express, Emergency Responder (E-911), TelePresence Management Suite, VCS, Expressway, and Webex. Participates in the On-Call schedule.

Planning & Analysis:

  1. Lead and/or support voice, and video projects to support new initiatives, capacity, life-cycle management, upgrades, new products and/or features, and integration
  2. Drives the evaluation, development, and recommendation of specific technology platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements
  3. Provide technical leadership for core voice and video services
  4. Proactively creates and maintains tools for monitoring and support
  5. Participates in project planning and reporting across multiple efforts

Delivery & Execution:

  1. Drives configuration, debugging, and support for communications infrastructure
  2. Documents, reviews and ensures that all quality and change control standards are met
  3. Drives the implementation of necessary system software, hardware, and equipment (physical or virtual) to meet changing communications infrastructure needs

Support & Enablement:

  1. Leverages tooling and custom applications to monitor the operational status of applications, infrastructure, networks, databases, and security; optimizes and tunes performance as appropriate
  2. Drives root cause analysis, debugging, support, and post-mortem analysis for major incidents and service interruptions
  3. Maintains, upgrades, and supports existing systems and infrastructure to ensure operational stability
  4. Opens and manages vendor problem tickets to resolution
  5. Drives the production of in-house documentation around solutions
  6. Monitors tools and proactively helps IT teams struggling with systems issues
  7. Creates scripts and tools that drive automation and enable IT teams and end users to move towards self service
  8. Provides mentoring and training to junior team members

  1. Keeps abreast of innovations and industry trends as well as changes to internal systems and determines how they impacts tools, training, and support necessary to keep systems up, running, and secure
  2. Participates in and contributes to learning activities around modern systems engineering core practices (communities of practice)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge, skill and ability to plan, design and communications platforms and infrastructure
  • Knowledge, skill and ability to manage technical projects from design to implementation
  • Knowledge of the principles of network administration, local and wide area communications, personal computers and peripherals. 
  • Knowledge of file servers, network data switches and other devices that comprise local and wide area network
  • Knowledge of security issues, techniques, and possible remediation techniques. Experience with Cisco Telepresence video solutions
  • Skill in generating and interpreting test results.
  • Ability to generate and execute procedures and plans that facilitate operational changes as they occur. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with one or more network security solutions and their use, such as firewalls, web proxies, web application firewalls, network access control, distributed denial of service protection, network monitoring systems, etc...
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
  • Effective planning, organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Networking, Computer Science or related field required, equivalent work experience network telecommunications administrator or design experience may be substituted for education.
  • Minimum of ten or more years of relevant experience leading architecture and design for Cisco Unified Communications applications and infrastructure projects (CUCM, CUC, etc.)
  • Experience with Voice Gateways: MCGP, SIP, H.323, SCCP
  • Experience with Border Element, Media Resources, SRST/SRVC
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Contact Center
  • Experience with Cisco Emergency Responder (E-911)
  • Experience with Skype audio and video conferencing solutions
  • Experience working with Cisco routers and switches

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cisco CCNP, or CCIE certification preferred.
