Job Description

Just like the children we serve, Children's is growing quickly and hiring a Rehab Tech to assist therapists in providing occupational, physical and speech therapy services to children. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized therapy environment and assure that necessary supplies are readily available. Assist with secretarial/clerical duties.

Essential Functions/Competencies

15%

  1. Aids therapists in the provision of high quality patient care
    • Follows therapist direction when assisting with treatment sessions
    • Interacts appropriately with patients and caregivers
    • Transfers and transports patients in a safe manner and per therapist instruction
    • Completes splint/equipment fabrication per therapist instruction and within specified time
    • Assists therapists in scoring standardized tests
    • Provides therapists with supplies/support as needed for inpatients.  (HOSPITAL LOCATION ONLY)
    • Assist as a play partner for Audiology providers as needed  (HOSPITAL LOCATION ONLY)

30%

  1. Maintains treatment areas
  • Organizes treatment areas, gym during change of patients
  • Cleans toys and restocks toys every hour throughout the day
  • Cleans mats, cruising surfaces, mat tables, benches, tables daily
  • Cleans treadmill, stairstepper, NuStep, play structure daily
  • Cleans bolsters, wedges, balls, baskets a minimum of weekly
  • Cleans microwave and refrigerators weekly
  • Maintains appropriate levels of personal protective equipment in patient care areas (masks, gowns, gloves, bandaids, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, CPR masks)
  • Maintains appropriate levels of clean linen in patient care areas
  • Maintains organization of office file cabinets, bookshelves, cabinets
  • Maintains and inventories items used for standardized testing
  • Reorganizes toy cabinets, supplies a minimum of once each quarter

  1. Maintains appropriate inventory levels of patient and department supplies
  • Inventories, orders and restocks office and patient care supplies in a timely manner
  • Obtains appropriate levels of approval for special order supplies
  • Ensures timely acquisition of special order items.
  • Maintains availability of linen supplies
  • Orders and maintains adequate levels of food items for feeding therapy
  • Notifies therapist of any delays in obtaining special order items

25%

  1. Clerical Duties
  • Answers phones in a customer friendly manner
  • Communicates messages accurately and in a timely manner
  • Greets and checks in patients following department procedures
  • Completes filing, faxing and photo copying
  • Maintains accurate maintenance of archived medical records
  • Assists patients/families in completion of patient experience surveys
  • Creates and distributes new patient packets to therapist
  • Reconciles therapists charges
  • Schedules rehab staff appointments  (HOSPITAL LOCATION ONLY)
  • Orients volunteers, coordinates volunteer duties and oversees volunteer program in rehab  (HOSPITAL LOCATION ONLY)

 

Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Ability to read, write, perform simple mathematical calculations
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions and take direction from many different individuals
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Good time management skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Medical setting and working with children experience preferred
