Job Description

 Just like the children we serve, Children's is growing quickly and hiring a Cardiac CT/MRI Tech who performs Cardiac CT and MRI examinations for review and diagnosis by radiologists in such a manner that efficiently contributes to the mission, vision, and values of the organization and ensures quality and continuity of patient care.

 

Essential Functions/Competencies

50%

  1. Demonstrates a working knowledge of CT and MRI scanners and ancillary equipment and information systems (RIS/HIS/PACS) used in performing these examinations.  Technologists will be expected to perform all other CT and MRI examinations in addition to Cardiac work.  Proven competency must be documented.

35%

  1. Demonstrates a working knowledge of CT and MRI Cardiac anatomy, scanning techniques and troubleshooting when needed for successful imaging. Knowledge of Cardiac syndromes and surgical repairs. Proven competency must be documented.

 10%

  1. Actively works with Cardiac Imaging Coordinator and Cardiologists ensuring the highest standards of Cardiac imaging. Completes post-processing when needed.
  1. Responsible for proper identification of patients and all images with patient’s name, date of birth, patient’s identification number, body orientation, etc.
  1. Coordinates CT/MRI examinations to ensure quality and continuity of care.  To this end, may be asked to schedule inpatient, outpatient, and emergency CT/MRI examinations as necessary.
  1. Assumes CT/MRI emergency call responsibilities on a rotational basis
  1. Archives CT/MRI images appropriately, i.e. PACS.
  1. Maintains accurate documentation for departmental and hospital records by recording neatly, accurately, and completely.
  1. Provides accurate and sympathetic instructions to patients and family members regarding the examination process.  Explains the procedure(s) in words that are understood.
  1. Responsible for screening patients for contraindications that may be hazardous to their health and safety.  Relates contraindications to radiologist for direction.
  1. Participates in training and orienting new employees and students as assigned.
  1. Actively participates in quality assurance and performance improvement in CT/MRI.
  1. Keeps a current knowledge regarding technical developments, trends and techniques in CT/MRI procedures and equipment.  Maintains registry and licenses, through appropriate journals, workshops and seminars.  Attends department meetings and educational in-services.

 

Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with co-workers, patients, family members, and general public


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology required or equivalent
  • Previous experience in MRI and/or CT and strong background in cross-sectional anatomy preferred pediatric experience preferred
  • Previous experience in Cardiac imaging both in CT and MRI required (Minimum 1 year of documented Cardiac imaging experience)

 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Board Certified ARRT required  
  • Basic Life Support
  • Current license from the State of Nebraska
  • ARRT registered in CT and MRI is required
