Job Description

 Just like the children we serve, Children’s is growing quickly and hiring Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to perform patient care duties that are related to carrying out the multi-disciplinary care for each pediatric patient. Provide basic, age appropriate care to patients under direct supervision of the RN.

 

Essential Functions/Competencies

1.        Provides basic, age appropriate care to patients and collects assessment data.

         Completes delegated tasks such as vital signs, weight, and head circumference, depending upon area of assignment.

         Graph documentation is accurate and timely.

         Communicates completion of task, and significant abnormalities or clinical changes to the RN.

         Completes all forms accurately and in a timely fashion to include the correct age/gender graph form

Documentation is conducted per clinic standard.

2.        Facilitates patient flow

         Facilitates patient flow in clinic by monitoring patient volume.

         Able to use good time management and creative thinking skills when clinic is busy.

         Ensures parents are informed of any delays.

         Offers patients toys to take to the exam room, if so desired.

3.        Orderly exam rooms

         Make sure the exam rooms are clean and ready for the next patient.

         Exam tables are cleaned with proper disinfectant between patients.

         Exam rooms are re-stocked with appropriate items.

4.        Supply ordering

         Orders clinic supplies to ensure adequate inventory by anticipating area usage and needs.

         Takes appropriate action to ensure functioning and necessary equipment is available and ready to use.

         Supply costs are kept within budget.

5.        Special procedures and specific tasks duties assigned due to area of responsibility i.e. casting, CMG download, blood transfusion VS, LBHA

         Accuracy of procedure and task delegated to the CCP.

         Documentation to be timely and complete.

         Provides clear explanation to parents/patient.

 

Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

         Performs other duties assigned.

         Clerical duties to assist in clinic.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

         Knowledge and experience in basic computer skills preferred.

         Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritization skills.

         Must have effective verbal, written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

         High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

         Experience as a nursing assistant with pediatric patients preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

         Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) required, within 3 months of hire

          Current and valid nursing aide licensure required or if nursing student must have completed a minimum of two years of schooling
