Just like the patients we serve, Children's is growing quickly and hiring an Application Consultant II to coordinate development, configuration, testing and maintenance of Children’s RIS (Radiology Information Systems), PACS (Picture Achieve and Communication Systems), PowerScribe 360 dictation system, and the Electronic Medical Record system in collaboration with the Medical Imaging and IT departments.  The  Application Consultant II will Partner with CHS team and vendors in addressing current needs and in the development of future opportunities. This role is responsible for day-to-day operations of the EPIC, PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System), Nuance, Image Sharing, Post Processing, and all related equipment and software interfaces. The  Application Consultant II will serve as a liaison in digital imaging initiatives to physicians, physician offices, nursing, ancillary, IT and equipment vendors and participate in the coordination of existing and future PACS and other digital imaging initiatives. 

 

Essential Functions/Competencies

  1. Coordinates system/application implementation processes. Participates in requirements definition, application development and system selection activities. Designs, configures, tests and maintains Children’s computer applications to accomplish the hospital’s strategic goals and meet the needs of the end-users.

  1. Researches, analyzes and corrects system and user problems in a timely manner. Makes recommendations to vendors on programming changes & product development.  Participates in TDW (Technical Design Workshop)-type activities.  Participates with On-Call or Monthly Maintenance Teams.  Serves as liaison to expedite support issues between clients and vendors. Develops and maintains necessary documentation.

  1. Serves as application consultant to departments and operational task forces and committees. Works with individual departments to define requirements. Works with the teams to define process flows and make recommendations for workflow optimization.

  1. Manages small to moderate upgrades/projects and serves as an application consultant on large scale projects. Functions as liaison between Project Manager and other team members involved in implementations. Serves as Project Manager backup as needed

  1. Defines security needs and configuration. Monitors/audits for appropriate security level usage.

  1. Analyzes and makes recommendations regarding design of system reports as needed from the various Children’s applications.

  1. Analyzes system interface queues as appropriate. Works with interface team to identify & resolve interface-related issues when they arise. Contacts vendors for assistance as needed.

  1. Develops and coordinates application test plans. Responsible for maintaining updated test plans for all applications with assistance from other team members.

  1. Collaborates with Leadership as an IT Consultant during budgeting cycle and other identified needs.

  1. Researches, evaluates and communicates new technology for applicability.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of Medical Imaging and Information Technology, focusing on Radiology application development and support.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Imaging and/or Information Technology or medical profession required. Similar work experience may substitute for education
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Information Technology or healthcare field, including 2 years as an Application Consultant preferred

 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience working with Medical Imaging Applications preferred
