Job Description

Just like the patients we serve, Children's is growing quickly and hiring a Revenue Cycle Analyst to support the leadership team in report development, data extraction and analysis, to develop reports and analysis, and to complete assigned tasks for month-end close, scheduled reports/analysis and ad hoc reporting.

 

Essential Functions/Competencies

  1. Completes month-end balancing, scheduled month-end reports, Revenue Cycle Scorecards, ad hoc reporting and data analysis as needed to support revenue cycle operations and financial reporting.   
    • Provides detailed measurement & interpretation; prepares analysis of data and presents findings to RCM leadership team and Finance with analyses of revenue cycle operations and financial performance as required. 
    • Provides reports and analysis to identify significant variances to expected performance outcomes & metrics..
    •  Prepares presentations that communicate complex analysis and findings in a concise and interpretable manner to support strategic initiatives.
    • Directs the build of Epic data queries using all necessary tools, based on user/departmental requests.
    • Performs intermediate to advanced spreadsheet analyses & database solutions using Epic reporting tools and other software such as Excel & MS Access

  1. Coordinates and analyzes accounts receivable financial performance based on analysis of claims processing, payer remittances, payment variances and denials.  
  • Uses the information to analyze and make recommendations for improvements to the RCM leadership team.
  • Provides support to the CBO HB & PB Denials Management Committees through development and analysis of denial reports and root cause analysis.   
  • Coordinates research, analysis, and remediation of moderately complex data with I.T. which directly impacts the Revenue Cycle and provides recommendations in support of critical business decisions when necessary.

  1. Prepares and coordinates payment variance data extraction and analysis to support payment optimization and payment variance recovery. 
  • Serves as the facilitator and point person for RCM in coordinating payment variance reporting and analysis with the Epic resolute team.   
  • This includes maintenance of the general ledger (related reporting, related master files and month end reconciliation) and any system optimizations related to financial operations
  • Prepares and coordinates data extraction and analysis as needed to support Epic Charge Master maintenance and optimization.  
  • Prepares ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed to support charge master, charge integrity, budget variance analysis and Operational Excellence initiatives.

  1. Assists the VP/CRO, RCM leadership team and others when needed, with analysis and reporting, system design, build, and validation.  Reviews and assists in departmental process, procedure and protocol development, to increase the knowledge and relationship between charge behavior, overall billing flow, and reimbursement.

  1. Facilitates and is the liaison, and overall point person, for external billing vendors, to help maintain appropriate revenue cycle compliance and data validity.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of revenue cycle functions,  familiarity with billing terminology, processes and best practices
  • Knowledge of internal operations to facilitate appropriate revenue cycle management  tactics
  • Knowledge of the current healthcare climate, including  HIPAA standards and governmental programs and regulations
  • Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and revenue codes and their effect on reimbursement
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to complete and analyze:  data queries, scorecards, detailed statistical measurement and interpretation, and financial forecasts
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in healthcare administration, information systems, business or related field required, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in hospital and physician revenue cycle or billing and collections processes required

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Epic certification in revenue cycle reporting modules preferred
