Job Description

Just like the children we serve, Children's is growing quickly and hiring a LIS Analyst who is responsible for day-to-day operations (management, maintenance, and troubleshooting) of the LIS (Laboratory Information System) and all related interfaces and systems. Serve as a liaison in data collection and provides reports to physicians, physician offices, nursing, ancillary, IT departments and equipment vendors.  Assist in the development of existing and future upgrades and initiatives and all LIS-related training of users including physicians, nurses and ancillary staff.

  1. Works under the direction of the LIS Coordinator to manage the applications, functionality and interfaces of the LIS system, including anatomic and clinical modules. 
  • Analyze instrument testing correlation to provide analysis the collaboration of pathway interface.
  • Monitor systems and processor status and processor status, dynamic downloading for analyzers, schedule manager, report chute, purge log, error log, billing chute and report and related activities.
  • Performs system checks including program modification log, maintenance update, modem access report and error summary report and related reports.  Performs daily system checks and troubleshoots errors/problems with the clinical and anatomic LIS.
  • Work collaboratively with IT and employee’s in the department in the testing and implementation of interfaces with reference laboratories and all new analyzers.  Ensures accuracy of data transmission across interfaces.
  • Responsible for updating test menu including new tests, change in test location and normal values.
  • Assists LIS Coordinator in the development, updating and review of procedure manuals for LIS, HIM Lab Order Guide, Training Guide and System Manager Manuals.
  • Assists the LIS Coordinator with the system design of screens, user profiles, master file changes and system decision trees.
  • Performs product evaluations, analysis, and design for Pathology and interdepartmental system projects.  Helps to plan system implementations and upgrades.
  • Tests vendor software releases and upgrades prior to implementation to fully identify problems before going live.
  • Manages system downtime and ensures that back-up procedures are defined and implemented.
  • Provides system training an orientation of new employees and physicians.
  • Ensures that all systems are compliant with all applicable accrediting agency standards including, but not limited to, CAP, CLIA and TJC.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or related field, including a one-year internship in an approved clinical laboratory required
  • Minimum two years’ experience in Core or Complex Lab environment required

     

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current and valid certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent with the American Society of Clinical Pathology or other equivalent certified agency required

     

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • System certification tests required within one year of hire
