Job Description

Just like the children we serve, Children’s Hospital & Medical Center is growing quickly and hiring Nurse Anesthetists to work in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons, physicians and other medical professions to deliver quality care to our patients from newborn to young adult. Experience a wide variety of care including cardiac, general surgery, urology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, ENT, non-OR anesthesia as well as pain management.

On occasion CRNAs will place regional blocks including caudal, epidural and spinal anesthesia and arterial and central lines as needed. 

Our CRNAs work as part of a care team model. A pediatric anesthesia fellowship runs through our organization, as well as anesthesia residents and SRNA rotations.

Essential Functions/Competencies

Assists in the delivery of anesthesia care as per staff anesthesiologists


Maintains anesthesia at prescribed levels under the direction of an anesthesiologist


Monitors and supports life functions during the pre-operative period


Recognizes and reports to the anesthesiologist any abnormal patient responses during anesthesia


Reports to the Anesthesia Clinical Service Chief first and foremost, then followed by assistance to other staff anesthesiologists


Assists anesthesia technicians in obtaining supplies to the anesthesia department, training and orientation


Participates in the program of continuous quality improvement


Assists Anesthesiologists in post-operative pain management


Assists Anesthesia clinical service chef with delegated tasks to maintain equipment in the department


Provides professional feed back regarding anesthesia issues affecting patient care, department goals, and the hospital vision to Anesthesia Clinical Service Chief


Assists Nursing Leadership in the performance oversight of anesthesia techs


Provides regular feedback of equipment & supply updates during attendance at monthly anesthesia department meetings


Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.


Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section



Performs other related duties as assigned

Promotes professionalism through a team approach when interacting with colleagues, families and personnel throughout the organization

Share/teaches information to others in an attempt to provide clinical support to those in need

Participates in orientation / education of new employees

Represents the department of anesthesia at meetings as requested by Anesthesia Clinical Service Chief

Assists in literature searches  and presents educational offerings as required by Anesthesia Clinical Service Chief



  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or nursing anesthetist required
  • Minimum two years’ experience as an Intensive/Acute Care Nurse in pediatrics preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience as a CRNA with a pediatric background preferred



  • Current and valid NE or compact state RN License and CRNA license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required to work
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required to work
