Pediatric Cardiac Intensivists

Children’s Hospital & Medical Center with the University of Nebraska College of Medicine is recruiting 2-3 Pediatric Intensivists with experience in cardiac care and 1 Pediatric Intensivist to add to a thriving academic practice.  Children’s is a vibrant free standing teaching hospital and Nebraska’s only full service pediatric specialty health care center focused on extraordinary clinical care, education, clinical and outcomes research and advocacy.  The hospital is embarking on transformational programmatic and physical growth to address local, regional, national and global patient care.  The hospital has a Level IV Regional NICU, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, Specialized Clinical Pediatric Services, and 24/7 Pediatric Intensivists.  We have 50+ Specialty Clinics, 200+ Specialists, 13 Satellite Offices, Pediatric Fellowship programs, and is Magnet Certified.  Our new campus expansion plans include an additional 100 beds to the existing 145, expansion of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and development of a Cardiac Center including dedicated critical care services.  Learn more about the Children’s Hospital (https://vimeo.com/daake/review/163319706/6ec84243b3 Password: changelives)

  • The 19 bed multidisciplinary Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is being expanded by 8 additional beds at Children’s in May 2018.  The PICU faculty support a busy cardiothoracic surgery program with three surgeons, heart transplant program and a full complement of pediatric subspecialties.  The faculty also supports the 20 bed PICU at the University of Nebraska Medical Center which is home to one of the largest abdominal organ transplant programs in the country.  It is also a Level I Trauma Center.  The successful candidate will be board certified or eligible in Pediatric Critical Care with a passion for quality patient care.
  • Candidates must have a strong clinical background including post-operative cardiac care.  Additional cardiac training is highly desirable.  All faculty will be responsible for teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.  The candidate will join the existing 12 pediatric intensivists and hold a faculty position at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine.
  • We are also seeking a Pediatric Intensivist with a particular interest in Clinical and Translational Research.  We actively participate in PALISI studies.  This is an outstanding opportunity to build an academic career with Clinical Research as an emphasis.   
  • The faculty are engaged in several areas of interest including Transport, Extra Corporeal Support, Palliative Care, and Simulation.  There is opportunity for basic science and clinical research which is strongly desired and supported.
