The Chief Financial Officer position serves as a key member of the executive leadership team (ELT) and has responsibility for all fiscal functions of the corporation as well as actuarial and underwriting functions. This position will work closely with the ELT and Board in establishing financial strategic objectives as well as operating policies and procedures to ensure attainment of organizational objectives.
What you'll do:
Develops the organization's short- and long-term strategies and evaluates past financial performance.
Establishes and maintains operating budgets and regularly reports on actual or forecasted revenues, profits, or losses.
Manages the organization's cash flow and oversees investment activity.
Establishes, implements, and maintains the financial plans and policies of the organization, including fiscal controls, preparation and interpretation of financial reports, and safeguarding of the organization's assets.
Establishes and maintains good corporate relations with the investment and banking communities.
Assists in long-range planning and advises the board and fellow management on financial affairs.
Oversee the finance, accounting, actuarial, and underwriting divisions.
Effectively represent and lead the Company internally and externally including supporting fellow executive leaders in driving forward the mission and vision for the company.
Remain aware of new regulations, participate in educational opportunities, read professional publications, maintain personal networks, and participate in professional organizations.
Develops organization prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansion prospects; analyzing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; and accumulating capital to fund expansion.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
Bachelor's or advanced degree in business, accounting, finance or similar field
15 years of experience in a similar role.
Previous experience as a senior-level leader.
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft office.
The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:
Experience in the insurance industry and underwriting/actuarial functions.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
