Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS\:

Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in nursing with at least two (2) years in nursing leadership preferred.


Education/Licensure

Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing is required. A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in nursing, nursing/health care administration, or related field is preferred. The incumbent must hold a Registered Nurse license in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states so license must be held in state of residence.

BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following\: American Red Cross\: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute\: CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-with AED, and American Heart Association\: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following\: American Heart Association\: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Safety and Health Institute\: ACLS, American College of Surgeons\: ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) and American College of Emergency Physician\: ACLS
PALS (Pediatric Cardiac Life Support) or PALS instructor certification required within 6 months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following\: American Heart Association\: Pediatric Advanced Life Support, American Safety and Health Institute\: PALS, Emergency Nurses Association\: Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), American Academy of Pediatrics\: Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP), and American Academy of Pediatrics/American College of Emergency Physicians\: APLS.
Crisis Prevention Intervention CPI required within 6 months of hire. After completion there is an annual renewal.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must possess strong clinical nursing skills to include\: critical thinking, time management, stress management, strong patient assessment skills, ability to start difficult IVs, working knowledge of patient equipment/devices, knowledge of high tech nursing procedures. Utilizes nursing process and problem solving skills. Demonstrates knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards; strong project management skills; excellent communication skills; good strategic planning skills; strong change management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation, team orientation, professionalism, trust, and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.
