Job Description

Previous relevant experience in security, law enforcement, or military police work, with demonstrated ability to perform security duties in highly volatile environments and situations is preferred. Experience with healthcare security responsibilities is highly desirable.
Prefer a high school education or GED.
An Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree in Security Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field is preferred.
Must be at least 21 years of age have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required. Position requires the incumbent to be approved to drive by the CHI Health insurance provider. Must complete and pass the CHI Health Ergonomic Job Analysis.
Additional requirements\:
BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following\: American Red Cross\: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or American Heart Association\: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Incumbent must maintain current certification in Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT). Incumbent must attain initial (PPCT) certification within nine months of hire date.
All security officers who work in the state of Iowa must complete mandatory reporter (child and/or vulnerable/dependent abuse or neglect reporting) training within 6 months of hire and recertify every 5 years.
CHI Health Ergonomic Job Analysis.
The incumbent must have basic knowledge of security systems, procedures, and enforcement codes. Job requires excellent written communication skills for preparing reports and evaluations; comprehensive reading skills for reading procedures, policies, reports, and labels; and critical listening and verbal communication skills when communicating with patients, visitors, doctors, and co-workers. Basic competence with personal computers and limited keyboarding skills will facilitate working independently. Must possess strong time-management and organization skills. Additionally, the incumbent must demonstrate personal traits which include high-level commitment, motivation, and energy; team orientation; professionalism; trust; personal honesty and integrity; and a demonstration of placing others in a place of high value and treating them with dignity and respect.
