At least two years of nursing experience required with one of those being in critical care nursing in order to have the skills needed to deal with patients in life-threatening situations.
Education and Licensure Required
Completion of a Registered Nurse program in an accredited institution
Current RN licensure for the state in which you live.
Additional requirements include\:
BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following\: American Red Cross\: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute\: CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-with AED, and American Heart Association\: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required within 6 months. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following\: American Heart Association\: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Safety and Health Institute\: ACLS, American College of Surgeons\: ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) and American College of Emergency Physician\: ACLS
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Interpersonal skills necessary to gather and exchange information with physicians, patient, family and other hospital personnel, and teach patient and family pre-and post- rehabilitation care. Analytical skills necessary to develop and implement effective nursing care and problem-solving measures for patients physical, psychosocial and spiritual well-being. Able to concentrate and pay attention to detail up to 60% of work time when monitoring participants during rehabilitation session and when documenting patients medical record.
