A minimum of three (3) years experience in security, law enforcement, or military police work is preferred. One year of experience with field command responsibilities is preferred.
Position prefers a high school education or GED. An Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree in Security Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field is preferred. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record are required. Position requires the incumbent to be approved to drive by the CHI Health insurance provider. Must complete and pass the CHI Health Ergonomic Job Analysis.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Incumbent must maintain current certification in Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT), with and annual renewal. Incumbent must attain initial certification within nine months of hire date.
BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following\: American Red Cross\: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute\: CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-with AED, and American Heart Association\: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
All security officers who work in the state of Iowa must complete mandatory reporter (child and/or vulnerable/dependent abuse or neglect reporting) training within 6 months of hire and recertify every 5 years.
***Current incumbents have until March 1, 2010 to complete the Ergonomics Analysis.
The incumbent must have basic knowledge of security systems, procedures, and enforcement codes. Must be able to coordinate activities of up to 7 security officers. Job requires excellent written communication skills for preparing reports and evaluations; comprehensive reading skills for reading procedures, policies, reports, and labels; and critical listening and verbal communication skills when communicating with patients, visitors, doctors, and co-workers. Job requires a basic knowledge of statistical processes for overseeing the department's quality initiatives. Basic competence with personal computers and a typing speed of 25-39 words per minute is preferred. Must possess strong time-management and organization skills. Additionally, the incumbent must demonstrate personal traits which include high-level commitment, motivation, and energy; team orientation; professionalism; trust; personal honesty and integrity; and a demonstration of placing others in a place of high value and treating them with dignity and respect.
