About AIM:  The AIM Institute is an innovative not-for-profit organization that grows a strong and diverse tech community through education, career development, and outreach. 

 

Position Summary:  Members have ongoing access to a vulnerable population (i.e., young children) providing one-to-one tutoring in partner schools. Members also provide after-school support to schools or approved community nonprofit organizations. During the month of June, Members support school district summer school programs or approved community partners. Members are required to attend national service events and projects, including MLK Day and occasional weekend service projects.

 

Essential Job Functions: 

Responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the project. The Tech Navigator is the only 100% staff responsible for their program, and therefore holds responsibility for its success. This requires working mostly days, but also some evenings and weekends as well.

Program Administration:

  • Participate in annual planning process which includes the development of the program services model and creation of outreach, recruitment, or services planned as assigned
  • Assess the needs of participants
  • Conduct participant evaluations including satisfaction surveys, personal development assessments, tech skills tests, pre/post Assessments, and partner surveys.
  • Assist in Teacher Mentor/Instructor recruiting w/HR including vetting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and evaluation.
  • Ongoing Supervision of part time staff assigned to the coordinator.
  • Attend monthly data audit and audit prep meetings
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of data collection processes and forms
  • Assess participants eligibility for admittance
  • Data management in participant and community engagement tracking systems including Lacai and Netsuite
  • Monitor weekly metrics and monthly program reports
  • Plan event/activity logistics, execute, deliver, host, oversee
  • Participate in program marketing to recruit participants
  • Update and maintain STEM Community Platform

    Participant Recruiting & Service Delivery:
  • Develop and implement plans to recruiting students thorough outreach efforts
  • Recruit participants into 1:1 Sessions and classes as assigned
  • Follow the program application, enrollment, onboarding, and service tracking policies and processes
  • Services provided to participants may include but are not limited to:Tech Career Information/Resources, Teach Interactive Tech Lessons, Teach Basic Tech Skill Training, Teach Advanced Tech Skill Training, College Preparation, Academic Support, Goal Setting, Mentoring, Self Awareness/Exploration, Tech Career Coaching, General Career Coaching, Leadership Development, Field Trips, Teach Core Subject Curriculum, Identify Student for Placement in Mentoring, Shadows, Job, Internships, other services identified or assigned

Professional Development:

  • Remain knowledgeable regarding scholarships and financial aid information for participants.
  • Remain knowledgeable regarding state and local grant opportunities and other sources of funding for assigned programs.
  • Keep up to date on Tech Careers, and best practices in motivating participants towards a tech career.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, educational leadership, Technology or a similar field required
  • Proven interest (through education or experience) in tech or tech career guidance
  • Minimum three years related work experience to include working with low-income, first generation and other at risk populations required.
  • Personal experience overcoming barriers similar to participants (low income, first-generation and at risk status) preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills
  • Experience with mentoring, tutoring, or counseling

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to and interest in learning more about tech skills and tech careers

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with participants and others of diverse backgrounds

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with public schools and other community partners

  • Proficiency in Google applications such as Google docs, Gmail, etc.

  • Ability to work independently and accurately, and make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures

 

As an Americorps Member with Serve NE you will be provided with a living allowance of $28,789 and you will have the option to sign up for medical insurance.  The AmeriCorps also offers an education award of up to $6,895.
