Grants & Fundraising Specialist

AIM is seeking a Grants & Fundraising Specialist who will be responsible and accountable for assisting in all grant writing and fundraising activities in order to achieve the grant-supported and contributed income goals of AIM. S/he assists in efforts toward maintaining and expanding support from foundations, government sources and others.


  • Responsible for project management of  all grant writing and fundraising activities of the organization, including the identification of grant prospects and programs, development of proposals and applications, and proposal submissions
  • Assist with other Fundraising Department staff activities, such as the grant calendaring, metrics  and workflow system and serving as a liaison to the AIM Marketing, Accounting and Grant Program Management teams
  • Ensure that staff responsible for grant program delivery understand all compliance requirements for each grant received
  • Perform related duties as assigned including assisting with other development projects and providing support at special events


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a grant research and writing role for a not-for-profit organization or educational institution, or have a background that includes experience related to the role
  • Previous experience with federal S2S submission systems, grant budgeting and proposal formatting
  • A consistent track record of success in assisting in the generation of grant-supported income annually from foundations, corporations and government agencies, or be able to demonstrate how their existing skills and experience would be applicable to the position
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work effectively with representatives of funding agencies and organizations such as program officers, and staff in other units such as Marketing, Accounting and Grant Program Management
  • Be able to speak and write persuasively about the mission, programs, and income needs of AIM
  • Have superb planning and organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to numerous environment and situations, including firm grant proposal submission deadlines
  • Must be an enthusiastic individual with a deep respect for foundations, government agencies and other grant-makers
  • Have high personal integrity and ethical standards
  • Be flexible, adaptable, and energetic
  • Have experience working with government granting agencies and the philanthropic community in Omaha and/or the Midwest
