Job Title Food Service Catering Manager
Department Food Services
Essential Functions

This position will coordinate and oversee catered functions for UNO Food Services. Catered functions are held within the Milo Bail Student Center, in various buildings on the UNO campus and limited events are held outside of campus. The Catering Manager is responsible for developing positive customer relationships and working with customers to build menus and plan their events in general. The Catering Manager must also schedule employees for all catering events, oversee setup and service, maintain appropriate food and labor costs and maintain catering equipment and wares. Catered events are held 7 days a week and this position’s schedule and hours may vary. This position must work with the Reservations Manager, Facilities and other appropriate personnel to ensure events are coordinated appropriately. This position will also work with the Food Services Manager and staff to help with menu creation and pricing as well as other duties as assigned. The Catering Manager will oversee and lead catering employees and work with the UNO Food Services Manager to interview, hire, train and evaluate catering staff. This employee must have the ability to learn to use the EMS Catering Event software system to schedule, update and generate accounts receivable and other uses. The Catering Manager must hold weekly meetings will be held with all key members of the UNO Food Services team to ensure proper event coordination. This position must obtain, within the first six months, the ServSafe Management Food Safety certification and ensure proper HACPP procedures are being followed during food preparation, transportation and service.

Additional Duties

Knowledge of food service operations and catering. Ability to present food in a variety of ways and understand appropriate food and labor costing.

Solving scheduling needs and multi-tasking to meet several, overlapping demands. Ability to adapt to last minute changes, requests and issues.

Ability to build positive relationships with student groups, campus departments, administrators, high level campus personnel, celebrities, and outside clients. Catering Manager must have selling skills, ability to act in a tactful and professional manner and the ability to find solutions to issues that benefit both the customer and UNO Food Services. The Catering Manager must also be able to successfully lead a team of full-time, part-time and student workers.

Required Qualifications

Required Experience: 3+ years progressive work in a food service or catering management position.
Required Education: 2+ years of college study in a food service, hospitality, business administration, or other related field

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in food service, hospitality, business administration or other related field
