Job Description

* SECTION I - POSITION PURPOSE (why position exists)

  • Support the IRC (Incident Response Center) Manager in the supervision and execution of workflows within Covenant  Transportation Group’s 27/7/365 IRC, a dept focused on averting and/or mitigating various forms of exposure.

* SECTION II – DIMENSIONS (breadth and scope of duties)

  • Fulfils responsibilities associated with the execution, supervision, and audit of response and related workflows including but not limited to Motor Vehicle Accidents, Workers Compensation injuries, Cargo Overage/Shortage/Damage (OS&D), Equipment/Cargo Theft, Rider Policies, Pet Policies, Hazmat Spills, Hazmat briefings, Security Briefings, and Departmental Metric Tracking.
  • Accountable to provide supervise, train, support, and audit IC (Incident Coordinators) and SIC (Senior Incident Coordinators) in the execution of their duties.

* SECTION III - ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (list individual job duties and the percentage of time spent on each)

  • Complete and audit proper execution of Liability Accident, Theft, Workers Compensation, and OS&D (Overage, Shortage, Damage) response protocols.
  • Complete and audit proper execution of Security Program, Rider Policy, Pet Policy, and Hazmat related workflows.
  • Support Claims Manager in the completion and audit of Physical Damage Claim financial protocols and processes.
  • Accountable for the completion of Workers Compensation related AOE/COE investigation packages
  • Accountable for the completion of portions of the Litigation Hold information collection process.
  • Accountable to support aspects of Subrogation related workflows.
  • Accountable for the follow-up on post accident information collection and consolidation related to initial response protocols.
  • Accountable for the collection and consolidation of department metrics as assigned.
  • Accountable to complete/support special projects as assigned. 


  • Provide training and guidance for new and existing IRC Staff regarding existing and new workflows within the dept.
  • Document and update existing IRC SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) electronically.
  • Work independently and with Management direction to design and document new IRC workflows and procedures as they arise.
  • Document and resolve issues identified through process audits.
  • Support IRC Manager with IRC staff scheduling.
  • Accountable as backup in instances of short staffing or times of increased staffing need.
  • Accountable to maintain cleanliness and organization of IRC work area.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

* SECTION IV - KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE (should be minimum qualifications needed for the position)

  •  4 year degree required.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experienced required.  Team/Group lead experience will be considered.
  • Prior experience with liability claim response preferred.
  • 3-5 years of practical experience in the transportation, insurance, or security industry required.
  • Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Proven excellent documentation and follow-up skills required.
  • Proven ability to multi task, prioritize, and adapt to change easily required.
  • Ability to problem solve and learn independently.
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends when required.
  • Advanced familiarity with Windows and MS Office products required.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure in a high stress environment.
