SECTION I - POSITION PURPOSE

The Director of Project Management will manage the execution of projects in accordance with organization's project management methodology. Lead the Development, prioritization and submission of project plans, budgets and methodologies across a range of key projects. Define project resources, performance reviews and post implementation evaluations.  Identifies, engages and manages stakeholders at many levels of the company and across many functions and across boundaries on key projects.  

 

SECTION II - ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborates with business management to identify short and long-term projects to be undertaken; performs feasibility needs analysis to determine project timelines
  • Manage the work of project managers. Lead the most complex or critical projects; monitor progress and performance against the project plan; identify and resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
  • Evaluate and authorize changes that significantly impact the scope, budget, or timeline of a project.
  • Select and manage ongoing relationships with external contractors so that the organization receives satisfactory standards of service.
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of project managers to ensure that projects are completed on-time, within budget and according to project specifications.
  • Assist in managing and facilitate small, medium and large groups toward desired outcomes.
  • Teach and model agile, scaled agile and PMP methodology and application. 
  • Issue Management - Maintains a cross-functional, cross-organizational project issues list, with appropriate prioritization based on the issue's level of importance.
  • Develops, manages, and coordinates cross-functional, cross-organizational resource plans for a portfolio, program, and/or project. Knows the right level of detail needed to complete the processes and use the tools effectively. Trains and/or mentors others in Resource Management.
  • Perform various research, administrative and other ad hoc projects as and when required

SECTION III – REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTERISTICS (should be minimum qualifications needed for the position)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field.
  • 5+ years of direct Project Management experience preferably with Agile experience.
  • 2+ years of direct Supervisory experience.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively in verbally, in written form, and electronically.
  • Must have the ability to make relevant decisions and judgments.
  • Must have the ability to be an effective team member as well as work independently.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate maturity and be able to respond positively to constructive criticism, suggestions, and conflicting ideas.
  • Must have the ability to interact effectively with people in all levels of the organization.
  • Must have flexibility to travel up to 25% of the time and work late when required.
  • Must demonstrate: proficiency in Excel, MS Word, Power Point, and working knowledge of MS Outlook email application and various web-based databases applicable to the field.
