Job Summary:
The Adult Trauma Program Manager provides 24 hour leadership for planning, management, implementation, integration and coordination in support of facility goals dedicated to excellence, effective leadership, and financial stability. He/She provides expertise in the application of the nursing process and theory in the area of traumatology. Develops and maintains standards of care of the trauma patient as set by state, federal and regulatory agencies. He/She assumes primary responsibility in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Manager/trauma physicians for developing, reviewing and analyzing institutional trauma filters, determining variances and assuring follow-up resolution or monitoring for trends by filter and service. Supports the delivery of the high quality, cost effective patient care through activities based on facility strategic goals and objectives. The Manager of the Adult Trauma Program is also the Level 1 Trauma representative on state, local and regional councils and committees.

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN degree required.
De-escalation training if applicable.

Masters degree desired.

A minimum of 5 years of nursing experience appropriate to the specialty of trauma/surgery, with adult ICU and adult ED nursing experience.
A minimum of 2 years management experience
QI/QA and discharge planning experience
Demonstrated expertise in personnel and resource management

5 years of management experience
Previous quality/case management experience.
Certification as CEN, CCRN, or TCRN preferred.

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Current license to practice nursing in the state of Tennessee must be in good standing with the TN Board of Nursing.
BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) certification
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification

The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor.
Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) instructor
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) instructor.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) instructor
Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) certification
Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification
Course in Advanced Trauma Nursing (CATN) certification
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification
Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification

*Within one year of hire, or next available class, he/she must complete the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine AAAM/AIS scoring class, Optimal and TOPIC Course through the Society of Trauma Nurses, Trauma Program Manager Course and Trauma Registrar Course through the American Trauma Society.
