A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients under the supervision of a physician. The responsibility of the procedure nurse is to closely monitor patients before, during, and after invasive and noninvasive cardiac/pulmonary procedures.
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education
1-2 years of PACU or Critical Care experience

Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
BLS within 30 days of hire.
The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.
Department Position Summary:
The procedure nurse is responsible coordinating procedure time and scheduling. He/she is also responsible for conducting an initial and ongoing assessment designed to gather data relevant to the patients individual needs and age group. The procedure nurse will be responsible for starting IVs, administrating medications, drawing lab work, taking patient history and performing patient assessments. Must be able to recognize risks and complications related to cardiac/pulmonary procedures through knowledge of physical assessment. The responsibility of the procedure nurse is to closely monitor patients before, during, and after invasive and noninvasive cardiac/pulmonary procedures. Procedures such as, but not limited to, cardioversion, transesophageal echo, loop implants.
When not working in procedure area the nurse will assist CSSU or other departments within the Heart and Lung Institute as designated by Clinical Staff Leader or Nurse Director and other duties as assigned.
