Job Summary: The MSQI Nurse will assist with quality improvement activates which may include: Support Medical Staff Peer Review and Patient Safety Initiatives to meet accreditation standards as assigned. Development of clinical patient case analysis and scenario summaries from the medical record and other sources. Ability to access and manage the eSafe online event reporting system for case referrals and follow-up as needed. Conduct quality surveillance, data collection, data entry and reporting of information from the medical record, patient safety events, complaints, grievances and other patient care sources. Ability to navigate Microsoft Office products, data entry and maintenance of any associated database systems for trending and quality project data purposes. Assists the MSQI Director, MSQI Coordinator and eSafe Coordinator as assigned. The MSQI Nurse attends and participates in meetings or educational programs as needed to support any assigned quality improvement/safety initiatives, and may act as resource/consultant to internal staff and external agencies as assigned by the MQIC Director. The MSQI Nurse will provide backup support to the MSQI Coordinator or eSafe Coordinator when needed. All activities are confidential and based on quality and patient safety in an effort to support medical staff peer review and patient safety quality improvement initiatives. Education: Required: Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing. Preferred: BSN degree or higher. Experience: Required: Three to five years of recent clinical nursing in an acute care facility. Proficient in computer and internet skills, specifically MS Office Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Self-starting, mature, reliable performer, attention to detail. Preferred: Three to five years of recent ICU nursing in an acute care facility. Previous experience with MS Visio and Access programs; pivot tables; other information analysis tools; and quality/process improvement desired, however department will train. Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration: Required: Licensed to practice Nursing in the State of Tennessee BLS within 30 days of hire Department Position Summary: The Medical Staff Quality Improvement (MSQI) Nurse is a nurse who acts as a resource to the activities that support the medical staff peer review/quality improvement initiative/accreditation status and patient safety events. The MSQI Nurse conducts data collection, surveillance, entry, analysis, and reporting of information from medical records, patient safety event reports, complaints, grievances and other patient care sources. These activities are confidential and based on predetermined clinical indicators and study methodology either approved by the Medical Executive Committee, Quality Oversite Committee, Medical Staff Quality Improvement Committee(s), , or required by oversight regulatory agencies. The MSQI Nurse supports the peer review process and patient safety initiative by chart review, clinical scenario development, chart excerpt collation, coordinating with the physicians/participants, and attending Medical Quality Improvement Meetings and Patient Safety Event meetings as assigned. The MSQI Nurse also attends other quality related meetings and educational programs as needed to support their assigned quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, and may act as resource consultant to internal staff and external agencies as assigned by the MSQI Director. The MSQI Nurse provides backup support to the MSQI Coordinator or eSafe Coordinator when needed.
