Job Summary:
The Director of Major and Planned Gifts shall plan, implement and manage efforts to identify, cultivate and successfully solicit donors who wish to make investment-level gifts to support the mission of Erlanger Health System Foundations. He or she will be a senior member of the foundation team who will work both independently and in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, Senior Director of Development, Board of Directors, and campaign leadership. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Director of Development for Erlanger Health System.

Education:
Required: Bachelor�s degree in a related field
Preferred: Continuing professional education in development or a related field

Experience:
Required: Five years fund development experience with responsibility for planning, maintaining and executing personal solicitation programs or related experience in public relations, marketing, communications or financial sectors. Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively share the story of our institution and our programs. A strong candidate will have knowledge of the community and a strong commitment to the mission and culture of Erlanger Health System.
Preferred: Development experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Department Position Summary:
Provide strategic leadership to the foundation as a member of the foundation management team
Implement elements of the strategic plan related to sustain and enhance the major and planned gifts program
Develop annual goals and objectives for the major gift program in collaboration with the CDO and Senior Director of Development
Plan, organize and implement cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities for those individuals or foundations able to make gifts of $10,000 or more to the Foundations
Work with board members, physicians, campaign volunteers and development staff to advance the major gifts program identifying the connector(s), cultivator(s) and closer of each major gift prospect
Prepare written proposals to support tailored asks to donors and prospects to motivate increased levels of giving by placing emphasis on areas of special interest within the health system
Serve as the key foundation representative on personal solicitation calls
Maintain frequent personal contact and communication with prospects, donors, board members and other key constituents to strengthen relationships
Identify new major and planned gift prospects on an ongoing basis
Coordinate prospect research on major and planned gift prospects and donors
Produce reports to monitor progress toward goals and program effectiveness
Ensure appropriate acknowledgement and recognition of all major gifts donors
