A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient.
Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
Graduate of an Accredited four year Nursing Program (BSN)
One year medical/surgical acute care experience
Previous emergency, critical care nursing or paramedic experience.
Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Current, unrestricted North Carolina RN licensure, or Multi-State Nursing Compact Licensure
Must maintain BLS certification and ACLS certification.
Required to obtain Pediatrics and trauma certifications during the first year of employment.
MICN and CEN certification encouraged after two years of employment.
Department Position Summary:
The RN provides direct and indirect care in the emergency care setting that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Triages patients safely, rapidly and accurately, that enter the emergency care system. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. The RN communicates with Emergency Department physicians about changes in patientï¿½s status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies and is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Responsible for meeting the established Emergency Nursing Standards of Practice for assigned patients, for managing supplies, medications and equipment in the department, and for promoting teamwork within and with other departments
